Woo Hoo...my surgery is Wednesday!!! As in Oct. 16th, Wednesday!!! The pre-op nurse called a little bit ago, and said that Dr. K (now known as Dr. Wonderful) called the hospital himself to schedule it, and then he moved some of his patients around so I could have the surgery next week!!!!! The nurse kept saying, "You need to tell Dr. Wonderful 'thank you, thank you, a million times thank you' for doing this. Most doctors wouldn't do this. And they certainly wouldn't do it themselves."
I'm just praising God for this because it's COMPLETELY His doing!!! I'm so freaking excited!!!! Now please pray that AF shows early next week...heck, I'll even take her visit this weekend!!!

I'm so so so happy about this news!
He sounds like a great doc.. and that in itself has won me over on him.. I know I don't have to approve but I STILL DO! He's great!
WOOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!
YAY DR. K!!
I am going to be sending you a ton of good thoughts for a smooth and fast recovery. I volunteer to bring you something yummy when you're recovering, hehe.
YAY!!! How wonderful. ANd I apologize how long this is going to get.
Okay, my experiences ... I had the same diagnosis - the reason I wasn't getting pregnant was due to scarring I had in my uterus. So I had the lap to get everything removed.
First - pain from the lap post-surgery isn't that bad. What did suck was the "gas pains" you get from the air they pump inside you during the surgery. It lasted way longer than expected and was, really bad (don't want to scare you, but want you to be ready for it if it happens). This was my second lap and I didn't have the pain with my first, so hopefully this won't bother you.
Secondly ... Find out HOW they are going to allow your uterus to heal. See, I had a different doctor than my RE do my surgery. It was a doctor I've known forever, so I wanted him to do it. The surgery was FINE, but the recovery didn't go as planned.
I guess the normal protocol is to give you high doses of estrogen afterwards for a few weeks (4 weeks for me) to get your lining nice and fluffy so during the healing process, your uterine walls won't be touching. Since the uterus is usually in a collapsed state and touching all the time, having healing going on - it's a fear that the walls will heal together - actually causing more scar tissue.
In my case, the estrogen didn't help. Now that I am post surgery about 4 months, my RE had another HSG and an HSS performed and he says that my uterus healed together and I have about 30% of my uterus sealed shut. He wants to go in with a camera (hysteroscope) at the beginning of my next cycle to look at the inside, but he thinks that another lap is in my immediate future.
My RE is an intra-uterine adhesions removal specialist. He just showed me the book he wrote about it. (Wish I'd known this before my surgery!) He has a different technique that's proven VERY successful in post surgery healing. He puts a balloon inside the uterus, which holds the walls apart from one another. This stays in during the entire healing time and afterwards, it's removed. This is what he wants to do this next time.
Hope this helps somewhat and doesn't freak you out or anything. More info is always better, right?
Thank you so much for the info Nancy!!! I believe it's always better to be overinformed than under!! Much thanks!!!

Yay for Dr Wonderful! Good luck!
dreamer4agift took the words right out of my mouth - Yea for Dr. Wonderful! Having to wait is definitely one of the toughest parts about this process, so I'm glad he was able to move the lap up to next week. I hope it goes very smoothly!
Is it Dr. Kleinpeter? I'm in Baton Rouge, also!
anonymous...yes it is Dr. Kleinpeter. Do you go to him as well? Tell me who you are!!! :o) (If you come back to check this!!) Kim and I are planning to get together soon...maybe we can work it where we all meet up!!
I don't have a blog, hence the anonymous post! I see Dr. Peek in the same office and I've heard lots of good things about Dr. K. I was in there about 3 times a week for about a month dealing with an ectopic pregnancy. I felt like I lived in the Women's Clinic! :) It's a great office, I really like it. Good luck with everything. I bookmarked your page to keep up with your progress. :)
Nope, I can be all yours on Thursday from about 10-1 :O).
Maybe I'll bring a movie...
Be forewarned, I could be some crazy mass murderer... you should be afraid, very afraid.
hehe, just kidding!
